7nt Gran Canaria Beach Holiday for £405pp inc. flights

I do love Christmas, but I think it is time to set my sights on something on something a little bit warmer. I was curious to see the furtherest destinations you could fly to, from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, without having to go through the ordeal of a transfer. One of the results: Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria is located 130 miles from the African coast, and is the third largest of the Canary Islands with Fuerteventura and Tenerife as its neighbours. (You can fly direct there too!)

151007 RyanAir with LuggageAverage temperatures for May range between lows of 17°C to a daily high of 22°C, minimal to no rainfall, 11 hours of glorious sunshine and miles of sandy beaches. If you’re a keen explorer, you could take advantage of the varying terrain of the island and plan an adventure into the mountains, or even take a day trip to the capital – Las Palmas.

Hotel

Hotel Neptuno is within a 10-15 minute walk of the nearest beach, the 2.7km long white sand Playa del Inglés. With the average sea temperature in may of 20°C – water sports are thriving, with the beach offering all sorts of activities including jet-skiing, sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing and many more. Basically, whatever you feel energetic enough to put your mind to – even scuba diving!

A slightly longer walk gets you to the Maspalomas sand dunes; with a designated nudist area and another section that has proven popular with the gay community (near Bar 7).

The adult only hotel has one outdoor pool, free wi-fi, 24 hour fitness gym, 24 hour reception and an arcade / games room, 2 restaurants and a bar. With an average rating of 4.2/5 and over 800 reviews, the hotel must be doing something right.
