Germany is synonymous with Christmas Markets; and Stuttgart’s are considered some of the beautiful in Europe. The main Stuttgart Christmas Market is held between 25th November and the 23rd December.
With over 282 beautifully decorated stalls is not only one of the oldest but also one of the largest of its kind. There will be festive illuminations, seasonal music, festive concerts and mulled wine in the city’s Winter Wonderland. As if to top it all off, the market is held on the Palace Square!
If you are not shopped out, within easy travel distance you can hop on the train to Ludswisburg (15 minutes) or Esslingen (20 minutes) to more “must-see” seasonal markets.
Esslingten is known for fire-eaters, acrobats and other marvels with an opportunity to indulge in some archery, and meander through medieval markets.
Ludwigsburg is a more romantic option, with the festivities held in the baroque market square, with another stunning palace as the surrounding backdrop.
I’ve researched a few options for this; but by far the most cheapest option is the longer stay of 4 nights.
Manchester – Stuttgart for as little as £52 return per person.
Remember with RyanAir to be careful in regards to your luggage and to deliberately say no to any of the extras during booking.
I looked at hotels, hostels and some apartments; but I think for the access to the Christmas Markets and being able to walk everywhere with ease – Novum Hotel Boulevard is perfect for £188 for four nights, or £168 for the three.
Only downside – breakfast is not included, but you within 5 minutes of one of Germany’s largest markets.
